Keeping the hands and feet looking and feeling attractive involves keeping both the fingernails/ toenails and the skin at its best. Regular at home or salon manicures and pedicures can be one way to keep the hands and feet looking their best. Whether you greet someone with a handshake, are in a line of work where your hands are used often or just like to wear open toed shoes, your hands and feet may be noticed by many people each day. Keeping them in the best shape possible can make you look and feel better overall. Nail Care Taking care of your finernails/toenails can keep hands and feet looking attractive. Basic nail care involves keeping your finernails/toenails trimmed and shaped properly. A regular manicure can be helpful for keeping cuticles from becoming overgrown and maintaining the health of the fingernails. Nail polish/varnish can be used on both the fingernails and the toenails to create a more attractive appearance. While nail polish/varnish does make the nails look nice, it should be removed every once in awhile to allow your fingernails/toenails the opportunity to breathe. Removing nail polish/varnish for a few days each month can help to prevent staining which may occur from wearing polish/varnish continuously. Nail fungus General nail care can also help to prevent nail fungus. Nail fungus can occur when the nails are frequently exposed to moisture, not kept adequately trimmed or exposed to areas such as locker rooms where the bacteria responsible for nail fungus thrives. Nail fungus can make the nails appear thickened or discolored. It may also result in debris under the nail causing an unappealing odor. If nail fungus occurs, treatment may require over the counter creams or a prescription anti-biotic. Pedicure A pedicure can be a relaxing way to keep the feet looking their best. Soaking the feet in a foot massager or foot bath can be very relaxing. It can also keep the skin looking its best. While these techniques can be helpful for the skin on the feet, maintaining the skin on the hands is equally important. Both the hands and feet can appear old and weathered from the sun and lack of moisturing creams. A hand cream is a moisturizing formula specifically designed for use on the hands. The skin on the hands can be delicate and this formula caters specifically to this skin. There are also creams designed for the skin on the feet. The skin on the feet can be somewhat rough and foot creams often contain exfoliating elements which can make the skin appear and feel softer. Hand creams and hand lotions should be used on the skin of the hands. These creams make the skin more supple and reduce the appearance of lines and make the appearance of you hands look smooth and young. Neglect Neglecting the hands and the feet in a beauty regimen can be detrimental
to the overall appearance. Hands that are dry or cracked
may appear older than hands which are firm and supple. Also, if
your fingernails/toenails are not well cared for both the hands
and feet can look unattractive. Regular manicures and pedicures
can keep the hands and feet looking their best.
